Since I hadn't done any wild camping this summer, decided to use the half term holiday and kept an eye out for good weather. Monday looked good, so thought that Bynack More would be a good option as I'd always fancied camping at the bridge near Strath Nethy.
Leaving Stirling the weather was grey, but at least it wasn't raining. It wasn't until we got near Kingussie that the skies turned bright blue and we knew we were onto a good day. Had left in good time so quick detour to Loch Inch for lunch then left the car at the end of the road near Glenmore Lodge. Set off about 1pm.
Nice easy walk up past the Green Lochan and Ryvoan Bothy to the camp site. Pitched tents, filled up with water from the river and off we went.
The path round to the Fords of Avon is in the process of being upgraded, so had we needed to, could have navigated most of the way following the bags of rock that now line the path.
Spent a while at the summit taking it all in. As it was about 5pm we decided not to stretch our luck by visiting the Barns, and made our way back.
When the shadows came over, the temperature dropped rapidly, and after dinner of boil in the bag had to retire to sleeping bag for warmth. Bed at 7.30!
Slept reasonably well, but despite thermals and and alleged four season sleeping bag was feeling the cold by the early morning. Up at 5.50 to pack up in the dark, and was back at the car by 7.30.
