This walk takes in the munros to the east side of Loch Trieg along with Beinn na Lap. The forecast was for showers being blown in on a strong westerly but things were to improve as the day went on. Starting at first light the ascent to the Stob Coire Sgriodain was soggy underfoot affair which seems to be the norm for this north facing hillside. The low temperatures through the night resulted in a dusting of snow on the tops and we were soon into sleet at 750m. It didn't last long and after 5mins it was replaced with blue sky and sunshine which was to be the pattern for the day.

Views quickly opened up as we arrived at the summit cairn. The Easain's were looking spectacular...

Next target was south east to Meall Garbh as our route involved dropping into Allt Feith Thuill before regaining the height for Beinn na Lap. The views across to the Ben Alder hills and south Laggan trio were stunning and continually changed with the passing showers.

The sky was slightly higher now and although there was plenty of showers around fortunately Beinn na Lap wasn't catching any. The wind had increased and coming in hard from Glen Nevis so shelter at the summit cairn was very welcome for a quick stop before retracing our steps.

The route back to Meall Garbh was straight forward with only a few inches for water to cross before starting the ascent.

Heading for Chno Dearg from Meall Garbh

The gradual rise onto Chno Dearg, our third munro of the day, saw a return of the showers which resulted in restricted views at the summit. We didn't hang about and started the soggy gradual decent back to the car.
A cracking day with a bit of everything thrown in..... frozen snowy tops aren't far away.
