Southbound again today and White Coomb circuit

3 quid parking fee and i decided to pay 50p in a " donation box" for a booklet about the area

Fairly impressive set of waterfalls and a good path round it.
Then suddenly you turn a wee bend and Loch Skeen is in front of you. Up to the fence and the drystone wall. Bit boggy in places up to the " ridgeline"
If you're heading for Lochcraig Head then go over the gate. If you go over the stile you'll just land in a swamp. A couple of stone's mark the true summit so it was back to the larger cairn and good views down the loch.
On round the boggy path following the wall again and up to another stile. Over this one no probs and about a km along to Molls Cleuch Dodd. Two cairns up there about 80m apart. By my reckoning the smaller one was the highest.
Back again and round to White Coomb where there was some good views all round.
Passed 4 lads on the descent who were stone pitching/ path repair who said they had another few weeks up here, so if you're just heading to White Coomb in the future it should be a good stone pitched path rather than the bog it is just now. It will also give a better route through the rocky bit. All the best lads and cheers for all your work

Hopefully this is where your parking ticket money goes to.

And so the time had come!!

Knew I had to cross that " wee stream known as the Tail burn " on the way back!!

It was a raging torrent no a wee stream

Went upstream a good bit before I said I've got to go for this. A Hop, jump and a couple of skips and I was over.
One lady and her man were stood on the other side watching and she said
"My, you're very brave- we've been watching and wondered how you were going to get over"
No bravado- just had to get over, that was all.
Bid them farewell and they carried on their walk to Loch Skeen
Gaiters did their job well today!!

Good wee walk - bit wet most of the route- but hey ho- its Scotland.

Cheers

Ahh yes, I remember that Burn, It was a raging torrent for us too  we had to work our way back to the outflow of Loch Skeen before we dared to cross it, we're not very confident in the art of hopping, skipping and jumping nowadays especially over water
Good report, thanks for sharing.
Cheers.

No goats today Rockhopper- only ravens and a couple of plovers.
