So for a short winter's day a flat and easy walk not too far away was needed. The walk in Livingston through Almondell Country Park and over Lin's Mill aqueduct looked ideal! After getting the last space in Pumpherston road car park we set off along the cycle track, past the sewage works and over a footbridge. We then came to Camps Viaduct:

We carried on and walked up through the trees where you are quite high above the river! It was much quieter up in the trees as we headed further away from the park.

We rejoined the sluice further on and you pretty much follow it all the way to the aqueduct. Even though you are walking through the trees there are good views over to the other side of the river.

When we reached the aqueduct we walked up the steps which there really wasn't many of and enjoyed the lovely view at the top:

We only saw one person down here, it was much quieter down this end! After the aqueduct it was a short walk along the canal and over a small bridge to follow the road back to the park. There was good views from here of Witch Craig, Greendykes Bing, the Queensferry Crossing and the Ochils. Unfortunately the walk along the road to the park was spoiled slightly by the smell from the nearby chicken farms
which was pretty revolting. Back in the park though we sat and had lunch at one of the many picnic benches dotted around and headed back, crossing the Almondell bridge to meet the path back to the car park. An enjoyable walk, however I think an alternative return route next time if possible, just to avoid the poultry farms!
