Cruach Ardrain & Beinn Tulaichean, Crianlarich

We decided to climb these mountains from the Crianlarich side starting at the the small cottage next to the radio mast just before reaching the 30mph signs at Crianlarich. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UglzSWtWqPI[/youtube]

you will come across a path which will eventually lead you to a foreststry road, folow this and you are heading towards the young conifers that have been recently planted below grey heights,

here you have to walk through the planted trees It was wet underneath but not as bad as I had thought but I spoke to people who had came up from the car park about a mile before where we parked and they said it was awful. Once we had reached grey height we could see Ben More to our left with cloud enveloping it like a huge hand and then it just as quickly come into view

As you can see from the video there was a bank of cloud from Beinn Tulaichean southwards all day which made the day more enjoyable.

We really enjoyed these two mountains and Chruach can be pretty steep in places but you get reprieves every now and then (not like its neighbour Ben More) a great walk with good company and terrific views and awesome clouds

Hi, I know I'm way after your visit but do you know where you exited the forest? You followed forestry tracks to somewhere near the Hawk Craig on OS? You didn't need to climb over any fences? This would obviously be really useful for people staying at Crianlarich YHA. Thanks, G

If memory serves me right we climbed over deer fences via deer fence ladders hope this helps as you said it was a while back.

For anyone going to Cruach Ardrain from Crianlarich I would recommend the route I used.

It was very simple and very scenic - and no fences at all!

I wonder if the Crianlarich approach could be added to the WH routes, because Cruach Ardrain is such an obvious target for anyone staying in the Crianlarich area.

WH normally has just one route per hill, but it shows two for Ben Venue...
