Even the farmer who I bumped into at the start said " it's a fresh wind today"
And he was right!!
Steep 1st part and glad the ferns were either deid or lying down having a sleep.

Into the snow and biting wind it was then and 4 of the famous goats from this area made an appearance. Probably could have got closer to them got sone better pics but decided not too. They were probably freezing as well!!
On up the east side of the burn making for the corner of the fenceline which would lead round to another fence and gate. Here I had a look round and found what I was looking for. A small cairn which I made to be at 730 metres - Swatte fell it was.
From this point it was a case of following the fenceline along and down and then up a steep pull to another fence. Bumped into a trio here who had came up from the community hall side via Hartfell spa. Plodded along through the snow where the trig and shelter came into view through the mist.

Mist down on summit. Freezing - no point going round to saddle yolk with no views so it was time to head back the way I came.
Walkhighlands describes them as escarpments and its a good description of the rockface and cliffs looking over to Saddle yolk.
The small waterfall I'd passed on the way up looked even more frozen now. Reached the top of the steep section again where i could see the car now. Not the time to quicken up - slowly down the wet steep grass and back to the road.
One day I'll stop in Moffat and have a wander round - next time.

Cheers to Hartfell and the farm owners who allow parking there
