Set of from Glen Sherup carpark, just past the glendevon holiday lodges (passed on right). Intent was to do the Ben Shee loop so headed up past the sign and throught he Forrest trail. Came to a junction at the corner of reserviour - right was closed due to works so forged on left. Through more Forrest trails, until it eventually dead ended at a forrest line. We continue on a rough track through the deep forrest and popped out at a Stye crossing a deer fence. Got across and then took a right uphill, this curved around to another 2 blind summits before the cairn is eventually reached.
We made the mistake of continuing past the cairn, and over another stye to the right thinking we could get through the forrest and not not double back. We couldnt, and was to late in the day to continue to tarmigan so we doubled back.
Ground was a little hard and frosty, weather conditions good.
Majority of this route is on a forrestry commission path. Would be a great dog walk.
