Unfenced Livestock

The middle third of the walk goes through unfenced farmland. Walked it today and had to put my dog on a lead for at least 45 minutes due to livestock, both sheep and cattle, on the route. It obviously isn't suitable for dogs and the presence of cattle raises a doubt as to whether this section of the walk is suitable for anyone.

It's not that unusual. You find common grazing in all parts of the U.K. I've even played golf and a herd of cattle were on the fairway. I think you just need to be aware and like you, keep dogs on a lead especially if there are young ones about. Farmers take sheep scaring seriously and cattle can be protective.
