We had been up in Aberfeldy for the school holiday week and were going back home to today. As is often the case, the early morning weather was probably the best it had been all that week at that time of day. So, rather than head straight off, we headed for the car park on the Crieff Road just before it gets to Aberfeldy at the start of the Birks of Aberfeldy walk. It's a short circuit - we went anticlockwise which meant we left the steps to the return half (first half was more of a gentle upward path) as well as the better views. A delightful wee walk if you have an hour or so to spare and want some fresh air in Aberfeldy.

Did that last October - but the colours weren't there at all - not like in your photos!

The Falls of Acharn aren't far away and they were nice and very interesting too...

A fine walk indeed to stretch those legs.

Whos following who here....i've did this walk twice in the last 18mths

Was looking for photos but must have deleted them.

View from top of the waterfall is fab.

Have you visited Acharm with its falls and hermits cave? or Rumbling bridge?

Wonderful autumn colours there. Its a wonderful area - may look to take the family to a camp site there next year.

We walked the Rob Roy Way earlier in the year and came across the Birks of Aberfeldy on the last day. We were amazed at the size of the main waterfall (Falls of Moness) and the endless cascades that were passed on the descent into Aberfeldy itself.

We couldn't believe that we'd not heard of them before as a lot of the Rob Roy Way literature seems to make more of the Falls of Acharn which although impressive were nowhere near as fantastic as the Birks.

Yours,

The Birks of Aberfeldy Appreciation Society :D
