Last day and a shorter walk was planned. Decided on Morrone from the parking at Auchallater. Up and back rather than that trudge up Chapel Brae at the end.
Top of the mast is in sight at the car park but you don't really appreciate how big it is till you're standing under it.
Cross the road and down and over the bridge. Then it's onto the land rover track all the way to the summit. Up to you if you want to get off it and head more directly up to the summit further on.
Wee cairn just before the summit where the views start to open up all around and you get to identify those you've climbed before.
Beinn Mheadhoin was the one I was looking at!
On up to the summit trig and cairn, hut and mast.
Nice memorial plaque on the side of. the hut.
Views really started to open up all around.
Loch Callater and it's surrounding tops- the cairnwell- over to Ben Avon and round to the Lairig Ghru.
Back down and across the heather for a bit to drop back on the track.
Mountain hares and grouse everywhere.
As the film title said
"Homeward bound "
For now.
Cheers to the Cairngorms and the people I met.
Wee shout for Braemar syha as well.
