Our first attempt at Ben Mhor yesterday was a short water-logged failure! The previous day we had some fabulous April sunshine after several days of heavy rain, while strolling the stunning beaches of Berneray
We set off around 10.30 for Ben Mhor with the forecast promising the cloud to lift shortly (promises promises!)
Much like the report from Stefan1, we encountered: Bog city.
After an hour of leaping, sinking, cursing, laughing, leaping, sinking and cursing again, we eventually lost all hope of traversing the bog, having made virtually no ground towards Ben Mhor at all.
We returned to the car, feet sodden, taking heart that the hills remained shrouded in cloud all day - as we tried to justify our lack of perseverence! We had a spin around the islands instead, feeding our hill rations to the little island horses - evidentally apples are like crack to these wee guys
