We visit Lochinver on a regular basis and ,I suppose, have taken the view of Canisp and Suilven a tad for granted. Climbed them both on the same day 4 years ago in pleasant sunny weather, well at the start ! Later a wall of cloud boiled over Inverpolly and I beat a hasty retreat ,just in time - rain like string :(

Woke up took the dog for a walk and had brekkie. My wife pulled me away from the window and pointed to my bag and said ' Stop drooling and beat it  ' She's a nice woman :)

This was the view from our little chalet/cabin,

So she dropped me off at the Ledmore path down by the harbour for the beginning of a very pleasant walk indeed. Birds twittering, fish jumping and me disturbing it all with out of tune singing- don't care I was like a 'pig in proverbial'

A couple of views on the way,

It was a cracker of a day to saunter along. Reached the footbridge and walked along with a couple of German tourists who were not so sure of climbing such a monument. Reasured them, but to no avail, so off over the bog -trot. Skirting the Lochan and heading for the winding path to the Bealach.

A tad windier up at the Bealach, but the view were nice,

Through the gap in the wall and upwards, with another little stop for this,

I am thinking my wife knows me well, she knows I need to be happy :) I am not happy today, just bloody delerious

Here's why, Inverpolly in all it's glory,

By this time Doogz has photos bounced at him at a rate of knots, not in a bad way, he would have been like a wag-tail puppy up here

I had been there for an absolute age on the summit, sponging in the suuuuuuuuperb, Doogz agreed, vista played out before me. A bloody natural miracle to me, de-bloody-lited 8)

I was not alone on the summit though, another delighted person joined me and we shook hands and chatted for a time- in between photographical frenzies :D He was, from his accent, of antipodean extraction with a brilliant story. the day before he had headed up from Inverkirkaig, but thought it to late to climb and make it down so just went to his hotel- do it tomorrow! Indeed he did, he borrowed a boat and tied it up under Suilven and just walked up  He told me he has used this site before when planning routes, so a big hello to the Suilven Boatman ,  Hi Neil. If you read this post some of your pics, your camera was a tad better than mine :)

A wonderful day out, heading back for some dinner with friends later in the evening.I thought the day couldn't get better, but I was wrong, Bingo,

Wow. Suilven is a seriously beautiful mountain. I need to go to it. Even just to sit and look at it for a while.

Simply stunning - love this area - best in the world :D :D :D and you have truly done it justice with some wonderful pics. Pity it's 600+ miles away for me :( :( Thanks again for sharing the report and pics - greatly appreciated.

Passed by it last Saturday on a recce. Extraordinary looking mountain which I'm very much looking forward to climbing this summer. You can only wonder how it came to be that way, until you know of course! Thanks for the enticing photos.
