The first day of a week in Fort William! It had been a great journey up, with some fabulous view - this is Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a'Dothaidh.

The next morning, the forecast for the Lochaber district wasn't great, so we headed east to Laggan.

We were keeping our options open, either Creag Pitridh or the smaller and nearer Binnein Shuas.

The track to Lochan na h'Earba was a delight, winding effortlessly through a variety of interesting scenery. At one point a startled snipe took off from right next to my feet, with its characteristic zig-zag flight.

Looking ahead: Creag Pitridh can be seen on the left skyline ahead.

We decided to go for the bigger hill. It was turning into a really enjoyable walk.

The brooding skies were very atmospheric.

Higher up, the stream ran through a snow tunnel.

The hidden lochan beyond the Geal Charn - Beinn a'Chlachair col, which looked oddly like a sheet of ice.

Near the top!

Sadly the cloud came down as we reached the summit...

...and then cleared, with every a glimpse of blue sky, soon after we started descending!

View from Roy Bridge, where we had some very nice beer!
