I'd taken note of the quarry parking suggestion made by other WH bloggers but unfortunately on arrival the gate was securely padlocked. So did a 180, drove back down the hill and parked up in a wee spot at the side of the B9119. Used the grass verge to walk back to the Clasholm access track opposite the quarry. Only saw a couple of cars so a very quiet road.
A short distance down this access track I turned into the field on left and headed directly to the NW corner gate which was surprisingly wide open. No livestock present in the field.

Alternative parking spot just off B9119

First view of Benaquhallie Hill from the south.

Corner gate leading onto Tulloch Hill and the Corrennie Moor.

Once through the corner gate, I just followed the buggy track up and over Tulloch Hill to a point where it veered right. From here headed straight uphill, paralleling the stone dyke, all the way to the top. Very easy to follow with a reasonably good walking surface.

Initially a grassy track over Tulloch Hill.

Veering right the route to the Benaquhallie summit is clearly seen ahead. Bit boggy and rutty here.

The final stretch, after the small wood, is quite steep but thankfully short. Saw some deer here but sadly failed to get a decent photo :( they fled up the hill and were gone before I could focus in properly! On top the views were pretty good with only a few showers in the vicinity. Nothing really to spoil my line of vision all around. Pressendye and Morven to the west, Buck of Cabrach and Corrine Hills to the north, Mount Battock to the south and Hill of Fare to the east.

Benaquhallie trig point looking west.

Rested at the trig point for a few minutes before nipping down to the unusual cairn on the southern slope. For info there's a nice convenient stone to the SE of this which provides a comfy seat for having your refreshments and cup of tea! Gives good views to the south.

Benaquhallie Cairn on southern slope of summit. Looks like a rocky 'Cape Canaveral' to me :)

Fifteen minutes on top and I made a move to reverse route and return to the car. On descent good view of Craigievar Castle to west.

Image
On descent fine view of the whole route followed today. Taken from just below trig point.

Further down Craigievar Castle comes into view in it's rural setting.

Lastly a bit of good luck on the way down - found a lucky 2p in the grass! Nice ending to an enjoyable two hour walk :D
