Although we had afternoon party invite (Not to Harry and Meghan's wedding though), the forecast was almost perfect and it was only available day for all 4 Bowies until the summer holidays, so hillwalking it had to be! We plumped for these two in Glen Etive - last time here was 20 years ago on Neil's 30th birthday. Busy with campers all down the glen as the weather has been great. Set off about 10.45 - hard to get C out of bed these days!
Down and over the river Etive then round a boggy path to reach burn which we followed up to the bealach. Beautiful burns and water very inviting. Waited for boys at the bealach - Calum lagging behind as kept stopping. Had lunch and pushed on to summit of Stob Coir an Albannach. Great views to be had especially to Cruachan range, Ben Starav and over to Glen Coe and Nevis.
Quick stop and down to next bealach. Neil attempting to climb down an unnecessary cliff! Over the intervening hill and waited for boys.... and waited... Started to panic and at that point they appeared - again Calum repeatedly stopping slowing them down. Now instructed to stay together we made the summit of the second munro. Tops were very windy but not cold. I had my shorts and didn't suffer.
Descended that hill over very steep grassy sloped to glen and walked past another to river back to Glen Etive. Great day's walking and didn't hear a word about that wedding!
