Glencoe Meetup - Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dorain

After Saturday's epic day on Beinn a' Bheithir I couldn't see myself doing anything too challenging so I decided upon these two hills as they were on my way back east and I knew the walk would only take 6 hours or so. Jockstar was also heading back to Fife so I suggested he tag along. After we said goodbye to the gang at the bunkhouse in Glencoe we headed to the cars where we met Nathan who claims we twisted his arm to join us, but in reality he twisted his own arm. We got started from the Bridge of Orchy just after 10am and made our way up the wet track to the bealach. For pretty much the entire route we reflected back on the weekend, mostly with laughter and fond memories of the various comedians in the group. We stopped for a break at the bealach before trudging up the boggy slopes of Beinn an Dothaidh. No view from the summit. These guys must think I like punishing them with cloudy conditions. On the way down Nathan starts talking about getting Pizza Hut when he gets home at which point I became pretty jealous. Of course by the end of the walk he had revised his strategy: he would eat a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza in his bathtub, with a beer, while reading the newspaper. Jockstar and I really couldn't compete with this plan  .

We all agreed that Beinn Dorain was the finer of the two hills since there was at least something to look at. The cloud did clear off the summits and we were rewarded with fine views over to Ben Lui and later Ben Nevis. In light of the previous days' epic adventure we all felt a real sense of achievement after doing these hills. Thanks to Jockstar and Nathan again for the fine company and the excellent chat. I hope that pizza and fish n chips hit the spot later on for you boys, even if you ate it in the tub.

Glad to see all still smiling - a far better way to spend a Sunday than dodging jams on the M6. Love the morning cloud pic and Jockstar's sense of achievement.

Ah, views! Nice way to round off the weekend.

When I got back to Inverness it was lunchtime so I went out to a pub and had a massive burger and chips 8)

I was definitely bullied up by these two, with a slightly heavy head from the previous night. The weather was looking quite welcoming. Rannoch Mor looked amazing, all the water perfectly still and the sun shining down on it. I did feel i should take advantage of the nicer weather.

Those aforementioned boggy sections were no fun for me, i was gaiter-less so i had to do a lot of hopping, skipping and jumping.

It was a great day in the end, glad i didn't just head straight back to Fife.

I didn't notice any lack of pace , Nathan and glad you came and finished the weekend on a high. Dorain was a good walk
and some of the views ,especially when later in the afternoon were worth getting up for. Thanks to Stretch and Nathan
for the craic and the encouragement.....the fish and chips at Tyndrum were brill as was the beer when I got home. Well earned ! :D

Oddly enough, I never suffered from any hangovers this weekend, even after helping rid Leithy of some of his Bell's. It was a fairly easy stroll on Sunday, at least it felt fairly easy going. Thankfully the camera was able to come out of the bag, much easier taking pics when hail isn't stinging your face. I noticed in the 2 group shots that you slightly ducked out, thankfully our Hungarian friend documented your presence  Good meeting you and Hazel as well.

 No escape from the hungarians lens!

I basically did bugger all on Sunday but did kill several hours in the Glens not straying far from the car. Ascended a little bit toward the AE Ridge - If I didn't have trainers on I'd have carried on and soloed it ;)
We must get a squad along it early next year :D

Nice report Stretch.
Good couple of hills in reasonable weather to finish the weekend off. Looks like Nathan and Brian thoroughly enjoyed themselves to. Great stuff. :D

Apologies guys, I'll be creating a new thread to describe each of my videos with photos in due time.

Didn't realise the protocol around these parts, been put right though.

Done these 2 on saturday with gammy leg, its a pity we never held off for a day and met some of you.
I remeber hiding out of the wind behind the big boulder in your 3rd pic and it was pouring down, what a difference a day makes.
Well done to all who contributed to the weekend looks like we missed a good time :)
