Beinn an Fhuarain

Wanted to do an evening and, hopefully, sunset walk but with the temperature at 25 Celsius in Ullapool at 7.30pm I doubted that I would enjoy a climb of Cul Beag and so sought something smaller to tackle. Looking at the map Beinn and Fhuarain looked like it would fit the bill -marked path with easy slopes after the caves.
Set off at 8pm on a good path that passes beside some pleasant cascades. Soon a view to the Bone Caves cliffs opened up and I crossed the burn at the point where it disappears / emerges and abuts onto an old dry river bed.
Pleasant walk to the caves but I didn't spend much time investigating as there were a few other folk doing that so I just popped my head into a couple and pressed on round the corner and up onto the Beinn an Fhuarain slopes. A bit heathery to start but short grass after a while giving a very pleasant walk up to the top. There was also now quite a breeze to keep me cool.
Just a small lump of a hill really but a great viewing platform for that stretch of iselbergs that runs from Ben Mor Coigach to Quinag.

A good path loops round past the Bone Caves and also leads onto pathless but easy slopes to the top of Beinn an Fhuarain.
You maybe also pass by where the hill name springs from with glen floor switching from wide burn to dry river bed.

Made a loop by descending on the western side of the Bone Cave cliffs which turned out to be really pleasant once past the short scree section at the top.
