This was our 3rd Munro of the weekend. The weather was still gloriously sunny and our camp at Loch an Daimh was great. We woke up to more blue skies and ideal weather. After climbing stuc an lochan yesterday our hill today was Meall Buidhe. some folks do these 2 together but we were lazy ! :-) After packing up our tents and clearing out, we took the track next to the Meggernie & Loch Estates sign (511464) which climbed slowly and then headed towards the dam. After passing a small bridge and another tracking heading the other direction, we continued on along the main track until a small cairn on the right along the track marked a route up to the hill. The track was rough in places but the route was relatively easy to follow.

Walking up towards Coire Beithe

An easy walk up Coire Beithe, then headed across some peat bogs to the first cairn at 917m at top of the ridge. there was a more noticable cairn at Meall a Phiill to the right, We visited this on the way back down but ignored it on the way up. Really gentle walking and not that difficult. Once at 917m it was a rather windy walk along the 1km top to get to Meall Buidhe. I guess the only difficulty with this hill could be Glas Choire on the right which is quite steep, to be avoided in bad visibility. But today we had no such issues apart from the wind. We sheltered behind the cairn to get a break from the warm wind battering us (unusual for Scotland ....I wasnt complaining :-)) ! After a spot of lunch we headed back the same route to get back to the car.

This hill would make a great beginner walk or first munro. It isnt too dificult and there arent too many dangers. Overall a nice wee hill! A great few days and a good selection of hills, Meall Nan Tarmachan, Stuc an Lochan and Meall Buidhe...would highly recommend them...not difficult and still get stunning views...and with the weather we had...cant be beat! I only wish I booked more time off work as the rest of the week proved to be just as good weather-wise! Ah well....cant have everything!

Sounds like you had a great weekend! Tempted to do Meall Buidhe and Stuchd an Lochain the same way you have with an overnight camp at the dam. Sorry in advance if I end up copying
