A very pleasant walk in an area that was unfamiliar to me. Thick mist and light rain meant that some navigational skills were required but the terrain is easy and safe enough. Despite the conditions, I saw Red Squirrels, Red Kite and Peregrines. The whole area very much had a "Southern Uplands" feel about it, reinforced by the Belted Galloway and Highland Cattle grazing in the lower slopes, coupled with the fact that I didn't see any other hillwalkers at any time during the entire walk.
