First day of a week based in Ullapool, and with a fairly promising weather forecast but cloud persisting on the summits we decided on a walk to the roadless settlement of Scoraig. The village is located on the south side of the peninsula below Loch Broom, and the path to it begins from Badrallach at the end of a long single-track road. Views are beautiful and the route straightforward, with just one rockier section above a steep drop. Once you get to the village there's not much to see - a school, "pay what you like" cafe, relocated lighthouse with information panels about local life, and a jetty - but the walk in helps you get a feel for the remoteness. An enjoyable day out.

Photos mostly from the return leg but reordered to start at Badrallach and finish at Scoraig jetty:

This walk took most of the day, but on the way back we paid a quick visit to the very impressive Corrieshalloch Gorge. Photos immediately below:

Lovely macro shots!

I have only walked the first part of your route when heading for Beinn Ghobhlach - I was fortunate on that day to see otters, especially as it was the middle of the afternoon!

Lovely colours in your pictures - so green!

We also only did the first half of this path when heading up for Ghobhlach, it was a wet and cloudy day so views nowhere near as good as you had... I'm tempted to go back and explore the whole route, especially that my second half is currently recovering from a torn muscle, so we don't want to risk big climbs at the moment.

I remember from our previous visit, that this area is steaming with wildlife. Even in rainy conditions, we still saw plenty of insects, lizards and frogs :D

Ahhh! I don't think the rain would put off frogs, if that's what you mean

Definitely recommend the rest of the route.

Interesting to see what that walk is like. I once got a lift from an elderly Scoraig couple who invited me to visit them any time. I never took up the offer but incredibly generous of them and if I had taken up the offer I can now imagine what it might have been like to get there. However, my brain is hurting slightly from the mental gymnastics induced by your mention of having mostly re-ordered the photos.

Haha, it wasn't that difficult to reorder them! Most of the photos were from the return journey, so I basically uploaded them in more or less backwards order, so they followed the narrative.

It's a nice walk - well worth a day if you don't fancy a hill.
