Great day's walk, not too hot but still clear and no rain. Took about 2 hours to drive from Portmoak via Pitlochry. Could probably have done it quicker. Went past Queen's view but did not stop. Have to do that another day. A bit of pain at the Braes of Foss car park since you have to pay but I did not have enough change. So after failing to get change of a tenner from passers-by, I had to move the car out onto the road verge to avoid a £50 ticket. Luckily it was a wide verge but still felt guilty. Car park was very busy anyway. Set off at about 12:45.
Unfortunately passed 3 dog poo bags on the way.
The path is very good and easy going.
The main ridge is effectively a boulder field. The path through this is quite tough to find at times. Ended going over onto the peat at one point. On the way back down the path through the boulders was much easier.
Made it to the summit at about 15:15.
Unfortunately had to pick up a discarded cider can on the top. Why do people carry drink all the up to get a beautiful view and then just chuck their empty can away on the summit?
Anyway I did not let it spoil my day and Had a lovely lunch looking out west over Loch Rannoch towards Glencoe.
On the way back down could not resist on last look back from the end of the summit ridge before descending down the path.
Got back to the car at 16:45. So 4 hours in total. Later on heard that L had done his 5 hours solo in the glider during that time. A bit more impressive.
Drove back through Aberfeldy and got to Portmoak in 90 mins.
