We decide to climb Cairn Toul and Sgor an Lochain Uaine from Glen Feshie, far more convenient than Linn of Dee for those of us living in the north. Depending on how the day went there was a provisional option of Devil's Point. The route up onto the plateau was easy enough with a good path, but then we detoured to the north, bog hopping joyfully
to get a good view down Glen Einich before trekking across pathless terrain to meet up with the path running round the western height of the Lairig Ghru and on to Sgor an Lochain Uaine. The ground wan't difficult, once onto the path we had no problem reaching the two summits - in fact it was easy walking. At the top of Cairn Toul we decided that the extra 6K to include Devil's Point would probably be too far, especially as I was beginning to feel the effects of the gay bog hopping earlier on. (Wise move since on the last part of the walk my knees complained bitterly.) The route off Cairn Toul was pathless until we met the track heading west from Tom Dubh, then on to Carn Ban Mor and finally down into Glen Feshie itself. This route not only has the advantage of being easy to access for northerners, but it also affords an opportunity to explore the vast western plateau of the Caingorms.
