After a relatively easy day with the uni. fieldwork course, the evening presented itself with the chance of a nice (not entirely overcast) sky. I hadn't had time for a full 27k walk of all 4 of the central Lewis sub-2ks so opted for only the first of the 4 with Iain.
We walked out the Scaladale centre and chose a path to branch off into the moorland to save us having to walk the road's full bend. After having saved only about 5 minutes at the very most, we briefly walked up the Gleann Bhìoigadail path before starting the steep boggy ascent. After a fair share of breaks the ground flattened and we wandered to the first top, Mullach Bhìogadail.
We spotted some deer hinds first:
Toddun (Skye Cuillin just visible behind):
MB cairn and Eilean Shiphoirt:
Liuthaid itself:
Shadow of the hill to the east:
After gazing about we walked the 6-7 minutes up to Liuthaid, where the views to proper Lewis opened up.
Endless lochs and lochans:
Summit cairn:
An Cliseam horseshoe and Uisgneabhal Mòr:
And again on the camera:

Looking west:
Rainbow:
An Cliseam with MB:
Mullach a' Ruisg; (L-R) Mulla bho Dheas, Mulla bho Thuath and Mullach an Langa; Uisgneabhal Mòr:
Full west Lewis ridge:
Uisgneabhal Mòr again:
Crepuscular rays:
After half an hour of waiting for the sunset (which was mainly obscured by cloud) we resumed the existential chat back down the steepest side of the hill and back to the glen path. Then, just a simple road walk in low light back to the centre. Great way to spend an evening.
