Beinn an Tuirc 454m sub 2000 Marylin on Kintyre penninsula is readily approached from the west 1 km north of Bellochantuy on A83 via the sign posted access route for Beinn an Tuirc Wind Farms. Timber extraction lorries (44 tons fully laden) use this track too and a considerable number of deep potholes to be wary of. A vehicle can be taken 10 km (384m ascent) whereupon further access is restricted to authorised vehicles, walkers and horses (no mention of bikes). Continuing on foot or bike another 4.2 km with 198m ascent on the track to Beinn an Tuirc I through a gate leaving the track with just 0.4 km due east and up 94m to summit cairn just south of Trig S8531 viewpoint for Arran, Ailsa Craig, The Slate, Cnoc Moy, Islay and Jura. Descent SW from top to join ascent track where a fence from the east meets it by one of the wind towers.

Total of 20 km by car, 9.2 km by foot 15 min each way by car and 1 1/4 hour from car walking to top and 3/4 hour back to car.

Beinn an Tuirc 1 wind farm 45 smallish turbines producing 35MW with phase 2's 19 larger towers producing 43.4MW and phase 3's proposed 18 larger towers NE of Sgreadan Hill producing 50MW

Looks very different from a Friday night summit at 9PM in the clag....but 10m visibility will do that!!!! :? :? :clap:
