Sub 2k Marilyns: Tom Bailgeann.
Date: 09/09/2018.
Distance: 3 km.
Ascent: 200 m.
Time: 40 minutes.
Weather: Warm and sunny
Part of a 30 mile cycling circuit from Inverness.

I had cycled down to the local Parkrun with few expectations for the weather - at least that would get me out of bed and feeling like I had done something! But the weather turned out to be absolutely stunning, and after a scone and many cups of tea, I opted for a pedal down to Loch Ness afterwards, then up to Duntelchaig.

As it was so lovely, I decided to include a short walk in the day. Tom Bailgeann fit the bill nicely, being a quick 200m ascent from the road with a sketchy vehicle track up to the mast on the summit. The views from the summit are quite reasonable as well, taking in the northern end of Loch Ness and the Affric mountains, all in lovely early autumn sunshine.

Back at the bike, I continued the loop round via Loch Ruthven, Croachy and Farr - this is probably one of my most cycled after-work routes, and always enjoyable.

A lovely afternoon out - would have been good on the higher hills too 8) .

I occasionally have a cycle ride out there, or go up a couple of the hills, it's so nice having an area like that on the doorstep when I don't fancy driving somewhere to go up a mountain. The general scenery reminds me of the Lake District (I'm from Cumbria originally, so that is a compliment!) :D

Nice one Malky. I have taken the bike up to the summit mast there a couple of times. Not great cycling I must admit, though almost possible on the way down
Great area and rarely visited by hillwalkers due to few of the hills being on the lists. Some real feeling of remoteness in large areas of south loch ness. Great route for the bike round by Loch Ruthven and that. Good pics.

Good Nessie picture btw. :D
