This was my starting point for another leg along the Scottish National Trail continuing from where I left off in September 2017. Weather forecast was excellent so took the opportunity to drive from Doncaster up to Blair Atholl Castle campsite (an excellent site), pitch tent and get a bus back to the Faskally campsite where I finished last time. The bus journey was quite scenic and managed to get picture of castle when it stopped.

Much of this stretch goes up a gorge. The first major landmark is the Garry Bridge (B8019).

Path follows up side of River Garry in woodland and a shortly after the Garry Bridge, there is a footbridge which does give opportunity to view the gorge.

River Garry shortly before Soldier's Leap

Soldier's Leap is reached and definitely worth the slight detour to the viewpoint. Photos don't really do it justice.

About Soldier's Leap

After Soldier's Leap, the path climbs up to Killiecrankie and the view opens out over the gorge overlooking the railway line and the A9 built into the hillside

Path drops down to the river again after going through Killiecrankie and crosses bridge.

Footpath then follows a quarry road for a couple of kilometres before returning to a pleasant more gentle riverside walk.

Finally, there is a footbridge across the Garry to enter Blair Atholl.

A nice easy walk in the evening sunshine. The serious part was to start the next few days including several wild camps on my journey to Fort Augustus.
