This was our second day enjoying the sunshine in the Gairloch minis and although the length of the route barely warrants a walk report it is worthwhile for the excellent scrambling.

The route
Our route up Meall Aundrary was via the Northwest Buttress and the route description is given in Highland Scrambles North. I can say the route was sustained scrambling on excellent rock. :D
We parked by Loch Bag an Sgalaig and followed the path through the woods before heading across more open country to the reach the base of the north west buttress.

However the Y shaped gully towards the top of the buttress was quite tricky to get established on and after a couple of aborted attempts we decided to rope up for the section. Once feeling more secure the climbing was really enjoyable and the situation spectacular.

With the gully behind us the final slabs were much easier,

Wonderful views across to Slioch, with a snowy top.

And all that remained was a walk down the grassy hillside and back to the car.
