Dun Leacainn

Dun Leacainn is another nightmare forestry cloaked sub-2000 Mariiyn. Approached from the lay-by on A83 just south of Auchindrain museum via forestry track across the road. The track crosses the Eas a'Chorabha to a recently replanted harvested area which is awkward to cross and in a few years will become impossible with the new planting. The firebreaks don't correspond to the mapping accurately and some new forest bashing was required to access the clear area below the summits negotiating clumpy grass and heather with a final steep up to the unmarked grassy actual summit above 360m contour ( with Walkhighlands' listed 359m trig top just to south). Attempt was made to follow broken fence down from col between the two tops, to what looked like an old sunken track but this disappeared to be replaced by chest high grass and waist high bull rushes in the wide firebreak, so further descent was made by ascent route. Total ascent 329m and 3 hours.

Had no idea how shapely this wee hill is from the top - it's on the way to our caravan so I might pay it a visit soon. Great report!
