Four of us drove from Aviemore on a beautiful Sunday morning(late morning:)).We were very lucky with the weather. It rained every day for the past two weeks but the sun came out just in time for us to do the walk in glorious weather. That made the very boggy hike pleasant and the views towards Skye were breathtaking. The river crossing wasn't too bad. Two of us took the boots and socks off and waded across. The other two were wearing wellies:). It is truly magical when you get to the little oak forest and you see the bothy for the first time. Like Grimm tales setting. I could see Baba Jaga living, happily, here. Anyway, we arrived in time to hide away from a sudden shower. The bothy is beautiful inside and has quite a bit of space. We brought our own firewood and coal and we put the fire on as soon as we arrived. The room got very cosy. At night we could hear the dear rutting very close by and a snorer in one of the rooms:). It sounded like they were communicating with each other. In the morning, after breakfast, we went for a little swim. That always happens with us. When we are together and close to the water, even with the snow on the ground, the water is too tempting and we go in for the excitement. This time, we were all geared up and ready to walk back when a friend whispered to my ear: Do you want to go for a swim? That's all it takes. All jackets, thermals off and in the water.....Then we walked back. It took us, roughly, 2 hours. Those 2 and a half miles seem much longer when you need to take care with every step and you have a heavy bag on your back. It can be adventures:).The bothy, the location and the views are worth the effort.
