Dear me, there’s just not a whole lot to say about this. The weather ended up being pants; much worse than the forecast had indicated. We left the start point around 9am, after discovering that a fairly convenient meeting point (with plenty of free parking) for parts South is around the area of Scotland’s Theme Park. We headed up (and down and up again) to our first main target, Lowther Hill. We’d gone into the cloud some distance before we reached it, and the rain came on as we approached the various buildings, masts, etc. that the hill is (in)famous for. We plodded out to East Mount Lowther, and although we got a tiny glimpse of the surrounding steepness, the view didn’t extend to Wanlockhead! We carried on back over Lowther Hill and followed the tarmacked road to Green Lowther, where we tried to shelter out of the rain somewhat in the lee of one of the buildings. We were both miserably wet by this point, the rain didn’t show any signs of abating, and it seemed quite certain that there’d be no views from any of the various “Laws” we’d yet to visit. We’d had enough. So we carried on to Peden Head, and made our way back down to the car from there. It was nice to have an outing, and nice to see David—we’d not walked together since we’d done the SGSR back in July. The rest of it all just wasn’t all that nice. Perhaps the most positive outcome from this walk (other than bagging a Graham, that is) is that we’ve at least done the hills that have all the paraphernalia perched on their summits! Oh, and there WERE some nice autumnal colours around. I’ll just post all the photos I took (don't worry, there aren't many).
