If you are looking for a really cool ruin, then Finlater castle is right up your alley.

What about the hike?
Well, Sandend is a really nice town, so you should consider swinging by. The hike from Sandend to the castle is not very interesting, but it is somewhat nice if you are looking for an easy walk. If they have worked on the part of the trail that was closed off in the beginning. The hike back was along a road. I would say you are better off parking at the other end and heading down to the castle and back.

What about the castle?
It has a great location. It was not difficult to get down to the castle, but you should take care if it is wet. This castle is not looked after so what you have is ruins. They are good ruins though. You can go inside the castle and check out several rooms and passages. The views are awesome as well. If you like adventurous stuff, this castle is waiting for you to explore it.

Use the link bellow to check out a video that includes my visit to Findlater castle. Starting 11 minutes and 57 seconds into the video.
