I needed to be back home early afternoon on wednesday...but I needed to climb a mountain ! Especially when the snow finally covered the hills
Checked the weather forecast, most of the areas rain, snowing on the tops, wind, mist and poor / very poor visibility, but the East of Torridon offered very good visibility, still windy and freezy temperature which would be helpful for the boggs on the bottom of Moruisg
The forecast also showed a change around 10:00 - 11:00 - coming snow, mist, no views. Counted the possibility about trip timing I decided to go for it !
with hope that the traffic will be ok on my way back to catch the time back home
Decision made, prepared all my stuff incl. the winter gear finally, I could not wait to enjoy the snow as I love winter hillwalking / climbing more than the summer's ( no midges, no sweat, fresher air, hard ground-frozen boggs, clear cnow-no mud, no crowds, more exercise-effort and of course the mountains looks beautiful covered by snow )
The only minus is shorter daylight ( not talking about the safety, avalanche risk, special winter equipment, careful planning and estimating and the harder walking/climbing ) and in my wednesday's case the limited time for the trip.
Here it was by the numbers: Woke up at 00:30 am ( checked the forecast again, prepared plan B & C just in case and prepared fresh food & coffee )
Started after 02:00 am
4 hours driving to Torridon area
Started the climb at 07:00 am
Driving back home @ 4 hours
Back home at 15:30
Great and fresh day in the mountains !
