There are serious roadworks on A702 building a new roundabout so to avoid going through them I parked at Castlelaw Fort car park and walked from there. Meant I didn't have as far to walk or as much to climb but I was only looking for a couple of hours in the sunshine. Straightforward walking the paths up Castlelaw, then over to Allermuir and back again. The red flags were flying and sure enough pops and bangs all the way up Castlelaw. By the time I came back they were gone. Peace perfect peace.
