Started from the lay-by near the junction of the A830 and A861 in heavy rain. Used mountain bikes as far as the foot of Gulvain, but then inexplicably chose to follow our own line up steep tussock (wet) grass, only finding the track after a few hundred metres of hard slog ensuring I was almost as wet from perspiration as I was from the rain.
Once we reached the summit ridge the wind picked up making progress difficult, and conversation all but impossible.
When we reached the summit we sheltered from the wind and rain as best we could for a bit of lunch before heading back.
We maintained a good pace in an attempt to stay warm, we maintained this pace on the bikes on the return to finish in just under 5 hours.
