Gulvain Bike - Hike

Nice day today, bit breezy but not too bad - forecast for sunny conditions, but only saw the sun intermittently. Good day for walking though. Followed the Walk Highlands route, so not a lot to add to that - there is a recognisable track the whole way, although this seems to be just a track that has form with usage, rather than a made path. That is on the hill - the path is a 4WD/ ATV track up to the base of the hill. I went in by bike, the track in is cyleable. Basically 4 miles bike in, and then 3 miles up the hill. The ride took me about 45 min in, and 35 min back. The first 3 miles of the track in were OK, but it started to get a bit rough for the last mile, with a number of fords I had to push the bike through. I guess this depends on the water level - we had a bit of rain last night, so they might have been higher than normal.

It is a really nice hill, there is a bit of extra ascent after the first summit, but on a good day the views are so nice it is no problem. Views extend all over Lochaber.

Lovely pics clem. Did it the other day with bikes and that's definitely the way to do it  but I agree with you about the last bit of the track - even in bone dry conditions!
