Blowing away the cobwebs on Benaquhallie

So after a fairly long time away from the hills due to work and uni commitments and an indulgent Christmas I decided that a small hill was in order to make sure that I could still move my body.

The criteria were, something small that the new puppy could manage, something with a trig point. I also wanted to go on the newly opened section of the AWPR and visit a friend up that way. Enter Benaquhallie.

I followed the track thats marked on the OS map up past the farm Upper Broomhill up round to the East of the hill, when it hits the fence there is another track straight to the top of the hill. A pretty easy walk, although my post Christmas and unfit self was feeling it a little. A more direct route was taken down off the hill straight through the heather to join the track again. This cut off a little of the length as I was thinking that little puppy legs were probably starting to tire.

Not a very interesting hill by any means although the cairn on the top is quite unusual, of course I didn't take a photo of it  . The weather was glorious and the views were far reaching.

This was the new puppies first hill, first time out in heather, first trig point. I think he enjoyed himself although I don't think he's going to be such a fan of the trig points as our older dog.

I am glad that someone found this a useful report. I try to put as much detail into my route taken on the smaller hills as possible as there is not always an "official" route up some of these less exciting wee mounds.

Did you get out onto it?
