Various circumstances contrived to postpone the planned 'shortest day' walk so it was a real pleasure to be out early in January (even if the temperature never rose above -2 degrees C).
First 'hill' of the day - Hill of Garvock, distance and ascent from the car 4.4km and 74m. McMole gained a few more metres of ascent by climbing to the top of the tower ......... I kept a very respectable distance away, the top blocks look a bit insecure.
Looking north we could see our next objective - Strathfinella - in sunshine - although as we scaled this from the north, we were in shadow all the way.
- Even darker in the trees around the trig point, Pete and McMole
Again, McMole gained a few more metres of distance and height ('No it's not a competition') by going back to check he had locked his car.
