Early start from Luss carpark. Over the footbridge and on to the minor road. A bright clear morning and a very pleasant gently rising walk for about 3 km till the start of the hillwalk. Sign broken but stile and path easy to locate.
Icy so not too boggy. I met a shepherd with dogs moving his flocks along the lower hillside but nobody else on the hills all day.
Straightforward path up the shoulder of Beinn Eich with wonderful views opening up. Summit cairn pretty small but great viewpoint.
Lovely walk along the ridge, narrow at first then broadening out as I dropped to the bealach. Path at times indistinct but excellent visibility so no navigational issues.
I carried on up the ridge passing Beinn Lochain and on to summit of Doune Hill. Amazing views all round. Wonderful to have this all to myself!
Descent to next bealach a little tricky but generally no problems then down the far side of a rather complex gully to the flat glen. Intermittent paths but largely rough grass with a few burn crossings. Interesting.
Along Glen Mollachan partly paths then rough track with boggy sections. Then back along the road with headtorch latterly avoiding icy patches. The road was worse than the hill for ice! Back to Luss in the dark.
A wonderful day to remember. My first hills of the year!
