This is home ground for us - as a family we've been using this walk ever since dog joined us, year round, all weather, and even a few times fighting the floods!
There are several places you can park, but starting out below the damn, by the old churchyard is very pretty, and when the salmon fishermen are active, can be a lovely place to picnic.
Paul doesn't mention the cows, and I only do so because they used tro roam freely in the meadowland, which scared the whatewver out of a farming friend of ours who wouldn't go near them, but recently the farmer has put up a lot of new electric fencing in the meadows around which the river flows, This is no problem when the river is not in spate, but more that a little inconvenient if the water is high - the river regularly comes up onto the meadow!
It's a lovely little loop, and usually quiet - but all the locals go round it anti-clockwise (downstream), so if your feeling sociable, go clockwise...
