A walk with my brother. Conditions were to be very wet and very windy on the day (60-70mph) however there were still quite a few groups heading up towards SCNL. Now I don't like to brag (really?), but we did actually pass all of them on our way up despite us carrying extra climbing gear. Yay us!

When we arrived at the lochans below the SCNL crags, a mountain guide and his group made mention of the poor conditions and how because of this they would not be ascending via gully. Overhearing this did not fill me with confidence.

Anyways, we stopped for a bite to eat then continued towards the base of the crags and up the slope to where a couple of winter mountaineering instructors were taking their students through bucket seat belaying techniques. Here we put on our harnesses and helmets, but not our crampons due to the snow being so soft and slushy, and we headed up the steep, loose scree slope towards the snow at the base of Broad Gully-

My gopro had only a 2gb SD card in it so didn't get much footage. I left a perfectly good 32gb SD card in the house like a total numpty! :eh:

Now, if there are winter conditions to be had in Torridon next month then we shall be hopefully taking a trip up Deep South Gully on Beinn Alligin and doing the traverse. Here's hoping!
