Just looked up the Coreyvreckan swim. 1401m is probably a bit too far for me in the sea. Have recently swum 80 lengths of the pool just to prove I can still swim my age, and that works out at 2000 metres, but they expect you to be able to swim at twice my average speed so it would be starting to boil up again before I got there. Very well done Rohan.

(I overtook a BLOKE in the pool a month or so ago, and was overwhelmed with smug-ness, until I looked down and discovered he only had one leg. )

My memory was that it was 1100m. At the time I swam it, I regularly swam 2.5 km in the local pool before work and the time wasn't a problem. That has all gone now as the Corryvreckan training turned me off chlorine and I also hate wet suits. I wore one all the time I was training in the sea for the Corry and for the actual swim but after, I stopped wearing it. As such whilst I swim/dip in the sea most of the year round, it is more like a 100m max (if that). I don't think I could overtake a one-legged swimmer now.

It's taken a while but I have finally written up my next report of my progress along the 'Shed if you are interested. It is back in the Long Distance Forum. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=89396
