Mount Battock Circular

Had a glorious day out on Mount Battock today. Did the usual route from Glenesk and circled up to Wester Cairn before hitting the Cloud / Freezing Fog and getting slightly disorientated! Thankfully for us the snow was still powedered and had blown of of the tracks for about half / 2 3rds of the walk. Sadly we had to trapse through knee deep powder on the steeper sections which made the going pretty tough.

Finally made the summit and 25 mins up there was enough before dropping down to hill of saughs, hill of turret and thankfully back down to the car. Many attempts at gliding on our backsides failed :(

Well done on getting up there in these conditions. What was the road lke up the glen?

it wasn't too bad when on the move Iain; but with the combined freezing cloud & windchill at the top I reckon it would have been around -15- 20 (?). Thankfully it wasn't yesterday, we were around -12 all day ( - 15 in the morning!)

Roads were good, really do-able; although a few sections of Ice Blocks from one side of the road to the other.

Twas a bit of a slog at times, but there was a decent bit of track available :)

Cracking - looks like it was worth the effort. Just as important these days is the approach road report.

ps - why has one of you got a clipboard strapped to your arm?

Indeed a map; when we were in the clag it got a fair bit of use!

Wish I was out again somewhere today, today is supposed to be even nicer!

Me too - it is even nicer round here too. Apparently there was a fair bit of new snow in Aberdeen overnight but its another brilliant blue sky day now... & I'm in a very quite office :( Got tomorrow off but forecast is now for snow in the morning - we'll see. If not could well head off for the Linn of Dee :D
