Meall Ghaordaidh

Having attempted to drive to the Lawers Range earlier in the morning and unable to get the car up we decided to head back to Meall Ghaordaidh and perform a small test of some new winter kit.
The weather was fairly poor with zero visibilty after around 500m. It was tough going on packed snow with a couple of inches of fresh snow on top but this presented no problems until the summit cone. We approached the summit from the north east and threaded our way through some large crags, the space between being filled with hard packed snow. This was very slippy underfoot and required some care to finally arrive on the top.

Yeah - those never-mentioned anywhere crags - I had a bit of trouble with those myself... in fact, when I did it (in a blizzard and a gale) I was so put off by the fact that there were suddenly crags on a hill which I formerly believed didn't have any, I ended up turning back and doing it the next week instead. Still, the next week was beautiful weather so all was well in the end...

Hey Pigeon,
the road was icy but passable. I got there in my Corsa so you should have no problems.
