Monamenach - an easy local corbett

There are other things I should be doing, you know things like tidying up...the forecast wasn't looking great for today originally so I figured it would be today but it turned out to be another nice day so we picked another hill to climb, Monamenach a Corbett and fairly local so easy enough to get to.

Car parking spot just before the bridge.

There was one other car parked up on a small grassy bit near the bridge and we parked alongside them following the road back and across the cattlegrid to Tulchan Lodge. Though a gate alongside another cattle grid and immediately leaving the road to follow a grassy track uphill which soon becomes a more stony track. It isn't a complicated walk, the track forks a bit beyond an old fence line and the right fork is taken and that track leads all the way to the summit. Dogs stopped for a bit of ice on the one snow patch we came across, used the having Coinneach attached to Moss to get some summit photos (need to work on his stays!) and then headed back down again. The views weren't that great as it was a bit hazy, darker clouds moving towards us on our descent but they stayed away.

The river runs right next to the car parking bit and the dogs got a bit of a splash around in the water before we headed along to the Glen Isla Hotel for a cup of tea and a snack.

I very nearly got blown to my death from this one a few years ago! Those dogs look like they were having a blast. Great to see. 8)

A very beautiful glen, but quite a steep hill. Coming at it from the north west was pretty tough going.

Somehow dogs always find something to roll in. Although I think I will leave the bathing in the water to them at this time of year.
