String trio climb Bynack More!

Bynack More on a chilly day in February - my viola playing friends invited me down to Aviemore to join them and I couldn't resist (I'm a violinist!)

Very quiet roads on the way down from Inverness at 8am. Set off around 10 from Glenmore, and the weather was bright, dry and perfectly nice until we got near the top, when the wind suddenly felt like a thousand icicles! There was a small amount of snow, but only patches.

The top is fun - lots of rocks. We got out of the wind to eat something, and found a small black glove - if anyone lost one that day, I have it here!

It's a very easy but quite long walk - a mountain bike would be possible until almost the summit cone, as the paths are excellent. Could knock a couple of hours off if you were wanting to.

The return walk was very simple, and flew by. We stopped at the Cafe for tea and home bakes. Things taste so great when you've just climbed a mountain!

What a lovely theme - musical Munro's! I still have Bynack More to do and this report has whetted my appetite. Nice photo's!

Do you know of the German violinist Julia Fischer at all? I have a DVD of her playing the Dvorak violin concerto, with the finale from Hindemith's G-minor Sonata as encore - one of the most incredible pieces of violin playing I've ever heard!
