Beinn Dearg Mhor and GLAMAIG - Red Cuillin Hillls
Posted: Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:57 pmStranded at Sligachan with our van Hector in the garage for repair, there was nothing else for it other than to walk up Beinn Dearg Mheadhonach and climb the northern Red Cuillin Hills. It was a fantastic day out with the sting in the tail being Glamaig with its steep and arduous slopes, quite something to behold and experience. Be ready for it and arrive at the Bealach na Sgairde in good time 
- The Allt Daraich gorge with steep slopes of Sgurr Mhairi and Glamaig behind.
- Marsco dominating and drawing the eye to the south whilst climbing Sron a' Bhelain.
- Val enjoying a break on our first wee stop looking northwards now towards Beinn Dearg Mhor and Glamaig.
- The summit area of Beinn Dearg Mhor approaches.
- Taking in the views and especially that of Glamaig!
- Worth many looks and on a day like this, deserving of time :) However, no obvious sign of a route regularly used to climb Glamaig!
- But first it's time to carefully descend the rocky scree down to the bealach …..
- Wow!!! Quite a slope lies ahead for the final summit, this time the corbett Glamaig! :)
- A particularly stunning view looking back over Beinn Dearg Mhor, on one of the many stops taken climbing Glamaig!
- Such a amazing mountain top area and great panoramic vistas all around :)
- Descending Glamaig, my boots knew for sure that they were back in Skye! LOL
- One of the easier areas descending!
- After a long and careful decent, we were back on the sides of the Allt Daraich heading for the gorge and the path down to Sligachan :)
- Would be a shame not to take this picture to finish off a tremendous and rewarding day out :)
- Our route was the red one, alternatively we could have retuned to the bealach but the spirit of the day saw us taking the hill race route back down! Not like any munro slopes I've ever climbed before :) LOL
