I can only guess at a Health and safety concern that a ridiculous looking small section of fencing has appeared at the stones which looks looks designed to stop someone taking a selfie and walking backwards into the small burn. The two bridges leading up to this point look as if they have very recently been replaced and evidence that lots of potholes have been filled in. Almost everyone who posts this walk takes a photo of the boulders which will no longer looks as good.
Biked in from the car park to the stones that saves a lot of time as took just over ten minutes, and just under three and a half hours walking. I was surprised how far the faint path[ which starts between the two burns that are 30 metres apart and not at a small cairn] went up the hill and was quite helpful.
Very hazy day so didnt take any snaps high up but at least there were great views over to Foinaven.
For anyone thinking of doing this walk but being put off by the prospect of 30 miles of single track road with passing places from Lairg- dont worry. Brilliant straightish road that allows close to 50mph average.
