Nice wee wander up Cairn O' Mount on Hogmany; the road was closed so we managed to bike about halfway up before the icy road put paid to the idea of going all the way. We walked the rest of the climb to the top and enjoyed some terrific views. We quickly fired back down to the bikes and then downhilled it on the grassy verge and down by the river. Great day out and great we prep ahead of last nights festivities!

Lovely photies - I used to love driving that road the year we spent living in Aberdeen when my wife worked in Banchory. Cracking drive! I've never been up there though. Must do something about that soon. 8)

no microspikes or anything along thos elines sadly. Thankfully the gritters dumped half of scotlands reserves on the road when they were last up it (not sure when!) but it was fairly spinning :)

I love the view fom the Cairn; it's a great place to be when the stars are out :D

Missed this the first time - good effort there Gable End. This is one steep hill to cycle up, never mind when icy.

I love this road too, but its been closed since late November. There are signs either end say whether the road is closed but often they don't reflect the actual state of the road. There has been talk in the local press of snow gates being added. Was in Dundee yesterday & on the way back (via Stonehaven) the Slug Road was bad enough for me (very icy).

I'm not getting too much into Winter Biking yet; had a blast in North Drumtochty and decided I don't like it in the snow!

I thinkt he main problem with the 'Cairn is probably the fact that only 1 side gets any decent amount of sun in Winter, meaning one side is probably do-able and the other is nothing short of suicide.... :(
