Was it not scarier going back down ?

Yeah, i meant to say it was scary going back down, i clearly remember being suddenly frozen for a few moments, hugging the face affraid to move. Some nice words from the wife got me going again. :(

its easy to forget once you star climbing from the Bealach and start cutting round to the left to reach the ( chute ) the drop seems to get far greater. You seem to be more above the coire .

i really noticed this when i looked down and saw the Eagles flying far below.

There was far less snow when we did it though, it was probably lack of experience that made us turn back. :(

Ahh, i think there has been some debates in the past about the actual scramble route on Stuc a chroin.

That is a different route from the one we took. We were to the left of you, That white chute in your pic is the line we took.

Seemed very airy from our route especially when looking down the coire. Probably less technical than your route though. :)

Will try and give that route a go sometime, if we are ever back in the area.

Thanks for the detail in your picture.

Dave

Theres me thinking you were using your weekend name

It was my 1st time on this hill so unsure of actual best route up :? .

We followed a very icey path until we reached a scrambly bit, after that there was no path and it was more guess work.

I just went where the snow was as to have decent grip, it was extremely steep :o

I may pop over and try the route you took up as it looks fun :) . I can then compare to which is more frightening!!

I'm sure there must be folk on here that have done both routes.

Take it easy, Jools

I'm still confused about the route of the scramble as well. I think I got it last time though. Photo of my route here. (looks more like davetherave's route than yours).

Malky thats another route i would like to try :)

Ours was defo the route i outlined as we didnt use our hands as much as your photo indicates. Regards steepness of ascent i just don't know, all i know is the friend i was with has stated that a few times he honestly thought he would not see the next New Year.....and this guy is experienced

I think its a fab hill as what we see is that there are many routes up it. I think i shall visit it again spring/summer and try all the routes in 1 day :D

Cracking report as usual dooterbang - not sure I'd have wanted to try that scrambly route in the icy conditions :D
