This walk was the second part our Knoydart adventure, having walked out to Barrisdale bothy the day before via Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn from Inverie. After a really ropy sleep in the bothy due to a) squeaky new Thermarest Neo air b) other peoples snoring c) my own snoring.
A nice steady 1 hr walk up the track to Inverie took us to Barrisdale pass highpoint where packs were dumped. My new super lightweight Sea to Summit 20lt day pack came out just to carry some water, jacket and food for the 2 1/2 hr to Ladhar Bheinn. strangely there's no path her so the Compas was dusted off and a general route to the imposing shoulder of Stob Chearcaill. I couldn't initially see a way up and through the almost shear face but the path was there. A straight forward line of approach to the final destination was only mixed up by the significant ups and down on the ridge.
A relax and a sandwich was made all the better taking in the vast panorama afforded us. There remained a mist like veil over the views partially due to the moors fires close by.
The route back to the packs was straight forward until the final few hundred meters where there was no track and direction was confusing through the hillocks 1 3/4hrs.
Once the packs were back on backs it was a pleasant amble down to Inverie was topped off by several pints in the Old Forge while waiting for the Ferry to Mallaig.
